Calder Collection
Self-Initiated
Alexander Calder was an influential sculptor well known for his mobiles and large-scale sculptures however, he also greatly enjoyed theatre set design and miniatures. He worked extensively with circus themes as well and wire prototyping. His playful approach to prototyping and model making is captured here through a collection of friendly wallpaper for children. The collection was designed at a time when the children’s wallpaper market was filled with Disney characters or old, stuffy designs. This whimsy collection brought children’s wallpaper into a more modern light, in keeping with the other interior trends on the market.
